Primary school children should get basic sex education, a Government review is expected to find.
The study is likely to recommend a shake-up of lessons to combat concerns that current teaching of the subject in England is too patchy.
Schools minister Jim Knight is due to present the findings later, as well as the Government's responses.
The review is expected to say that sex education should be compulsory in all schools.
This could include teaching young children basic classes on the human body and relationships, with more detailed information being given as a child moves up through school.
Last week Mr Knight told MPs he had received "strong recommendations" for making sex education compulsory in all schools but said it had to be done without "sexualising young people too early".
International evidence suggests that teaching certain aspects of sex and relationship education before puberty has a "positive effect" on issues like teenage pregnancy, Mr Knight said.
Britain has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in Europe and figures suggest rising numbers of young people are catching sexually transmitted diseases.
Current rules say pupils must be taught the biological facts of reproduction, usually in science classes, and every school must have a sex education policy.
But there is no statutory requirement for teaching about relationships and the social and emotional side of sexual behaviour.
Not sure how I feel about this one , as I have always felt it good to be open with my children, they knew from about 4/5 what mating was, something that if you watch nature programs they see and so when Michelle asked if humans mate too, I simply said yes and that was it, she new human babies came out the same way as animal babies did. It felt natural and then I just left it up to them , if they asked a question I told them the answer and it has been interesting to me to watch their development. it does have its down sides as they both wonder why women go to hospital to have a baby as they are not sick , ha ha I always say wait until you are there before you judge someone, as even listening to someone relate their side of the story very rarely helps as to when you are there feeling the pain, insecurity and emotions.
My problem with the lessons is....what to they teach and how, that birth pills are a must , that teenage sex is fine so long as you use contraception, that gay and lesbian sex is fine ( not that i have a problem with gays ) but who sets the rules and how would gay couples feel if the children get taught that's gays are wrong and evil. Who decides what's right ? Some stuffy gray suit er in an office ?
look at the picture above and just think for a while, the magic that's is involved in a kiss, the soul connection, the joining of two sets of manifesting life lesson into one similar one for awhile. Or is this just another way to institutionalize our kids, brain wash them into dummies that cannot think for themselves, STEPFORD WIVES ?

Sounds like you have the children on the right path. They have always talked about sex education at school and nothing has every come of it so put it out of your mind and carry on doing it your way. Love Mommy
