On October 1995 twin girls were born at Massachusetts memorial Hospital in Worcester. They were extremely premature and weighed only two pounds. They were put into incubators but while one baby did fine the other did not and she got weaker and weaker eventually a nurse Gale Kasparian did what she was not allowed to, she put the baby in one incubator with her healthy sister. this is what she said " almost immediately the healthier of the two sisters wrapped an rm around her sister, the smaller babies blood oxygen levels began to rise straight away, her frantic movements subsided, her heart rate stabilized and her temperature returned to normal." In the days that followed she continues to grow and thrive. Doctors said the turning point was when she was placed in the incubator with her sister. Since then many hospital have allowed this but many still do not .
among the exceptionally healthy tribes and long lived people of the world, touching and hugging and other forms of respect and affectionate contact are common daily experiences throughout all phases of their lives. Of course these people still experience struggles but it is at these times that all the above are practiced even more.
I see elders alone all over UK .
the worst case being a man who died at 84 his rent, tv, phone, gas and electricity bill payments continued to be automatically deducted, this went on for two tears before a neighbour found a friends dog behaving strangely at the mans door and they where later to find out they had been living next to a dead body for two years.
Today a high percentage of elders live alone watching tv all day long. many residence of old age homes go years without seeing any family and sadly many children today have never met their grandparents.
In 2005 a Italian physician reported that 1000's of elderly spent Christmas alone and he knows this as people book them into hospital over this period so that they do not have the inconvenience of looking after then at this busy time.
Roberto Messina who works in Rome at a charity place for the elderly said the saddest for them is when visiting hour comes round and many lay alone because they lay under the cover and pretend to be a sleep but id you look closer many are crying knowing that they are unwanted.
IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT THE MORAL TEST OF A PEOPLE IS HOW THEY TREAT THOSE WHO ARE IN THE DAWN OF LIFE AND THOSE THAT ARE IN THEIR TWILIGHT YEARS.
WHERE ARE OUR MORALS ?
