A while back I asked for the Goddess to send me some answers to the menopause and here is what I have found so far.

I feel that as women today we don't get to spend enough time with older women in an intimate setting and when you do a great relaxation takes place as you find out that you are normal and that what seems old to you is young to some one older.
Granny's are important and we are supposed to see them naked and without make up in a natural setting so that our view of the human body is not so out of balance, the only naked bodies we see are 16 year old models that have had make up artists working on them for an hour and then the computer does a touch up too.
What this also leads to is menopausal women seem to feel alone and that they are the only ones going through hot flushes and a feelings of illness and depression and isolation. I know when you are going through something the last thing you wants to hear is Oh its normal you will be fine but looked at analytically it can also be a great relief, it is normal you are not ill and there are ways to make you feel better.

I love A.Vogel products, although I am not yet sure about the alcohol, I figure it is a small amount but if i can get the herb I take that instead.

Do not go on to HRT. Your body will be much more capable of coping with this in your 50es than when you finally come off the HRT in your 70es. Because the drop in hormones will be a lot more dramatic. I heard today that my Mothers GP told her its not a good idea to come off meat and dairy either at this time as not only are your hormones dropping but then you give up your daily dosage of animal hormones too the shock to the system will make you more ill as its more dramatic, WOW I was blown away that a GP could have this much insight.And for younger women this might be reason enough to come off the animal flesh now.

Firstly your body should get rid of it's waste via the bowel and the urinary tract and the more I study the more I see that both are of equal importance.Not sure about U.T. as i think a lot of toxins come through in the urine. When these two systems are off balance toxins are moved into the menstrual fluid. Then during menopause the toxins stay in the body causing flushes, skin problems, digestive disturbances and arthritic complaints. Its therefore logical not only to detox but also to stop putting toxins in.
For people on an S.A.D. diet standard American diet, don't play hero and suddenly start a lemon juice fast try upping your water intake to 1L in the morning before anything else and add a dash of lemon juice in it, slowly increase this to 1.5L daily.
cut out coffee ( Vogel has a grain coffee to get you off the other) and cut down tea to two cups a day.
make sure your bowel works everyday. twice is even better.
Don't go for a long period of time with out eating.
Reduce meat and dairy slowly

If you are a bit more adventurous with food try juicing more, cucumber and celery and add Maca to your smoothies.
20 min walk EVERYDAY

Try and eat more apples, almonds, cashews, oats, cucumbers, broccoli,cauliflower, green leafy vegetables and peas, seeds, figs, parsley and alfalfa and alfalfa sprouts.

this is all about adding to your day, lifestyle , there is no taking away and no lack.

Set up a ritual for bedtime, candles and prayer and meditation, spoil yourself and drink lemon balm and chamomile and eat dinner early. Vogel medicine take Valerian and Passiflora and try to establish a set sleeping pattern.
If your muscles are tight and twitchy you could try a magnesium supplement and raw chocolate, love your self and reconnect with your mother and grandmother even if past on when in spirit they are easier to connect to.
Take a vitamin C and B which feeds adrenal glands and yoga and pranayama every day.
Low estrogen is what causes hot flushes, but it also causes low libido, low energy, depression, decreased condition of hair and skin and nails, hair loss, vaginal dryness, joint aches and pains so address these areas, sage, maca, ginseng, st johns, horsetail tea, hemp and nettle tea, essential fatty acids and devils claw.
It can also cause bladder problems as low estrogen causes a thinning of the bladder lining, Vogel medicine try Galeopsis and eat hemp seeds and oil and drink nettle tea.

Low progesterone causes anxiety and irritability ( sometimes you will even shock yourself) try agnus castus which incourages body to make more progesterone.

With fatigue check your iron levels and if low take Floradix and cut out wheat.If iron levels are fine take Eleutherococcus.

With hot flushes and night sweats the first thing to try is sage if his does not work Black cohost as it mimics oestrogen. Take a one month break every 6 months.

Female flower essence is wonderful and something to consider.
make sure you are getting your EFA's and take Ginko if forgetfulness is a problem, ginko will also restore pelvic floor muscles.

Sore joints and bones , glucosamine sulphate.
kelp will restore hair and nails and silica taken over 4 months will improve hair and tone of skin, if your nails are peeling, silica is for you.

Vaginal dryness
400i.u of vit E

Ginsavena is for you if you need more energy but need to stay calm.

For migraines Feverfew and nooooo coffee.

On the spiritual side why don't we ask for a menopausal angel ? Or a few and like this picture you can take in your meditations and in your life and surround yourself with loving vibrations a beautiful love circle, so that you can embrace the hot flush much like a contraction and instead of grabbing another glass of wine or drug to numb the sense, rather see it as the birthing of the next 50 years.An initiation and something that you have to work through.

My love goes out to all women in this phase with a prayer that you will be brave and learn so that you can teach me, so that I can teach my daughters.
